Standard Business Sponsor (SBS)

In order to sponsor a candidate from overseas, your business must be approved by the Department of Home Affairs as a Standard Business Sponsor (SBS).

This is an application we can make on your behalf and once approved is valid for a 5 year period allowing you to sponsor as many overseas workers as you wish on a 482 (TSS) or 494 (Regional Work) visa.

The requirements for approval as a Standard Business Sponsor are as follows:

  • The business must be lawfully operating

  • The business must not have any adverse information recorded against it

  • Ability to fill skill shortages within the business with skilled workers who cannot be sourced locally

  • Ability to move staff easily between locations for global organisations

The various types of entities that would generally apply for SBS approval should fall within one of these five groups of ‘persons’. These include:

  • sole traders

  • partnerships

  • proprietary companies

  • public companies

  • government departments

  • statutory authorities

  • not-for-profit-organisations

  • educational institutions

This is an application we can make on your behalf so contact us for further information.

An Accredited sponsor receives priority when the DHA process Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa subclass 482 or Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa subclass 494 and visa applications.

Most Accredited Sponsor nomination applications and accompanying visa applications are processed in approximately 5 business days.
